Bipod for my Enfield

Can you recommend a suitable bipod for my Enfield No. 4 Mk 2, please? All the one's that I can see are too 'modern' for such rifles as Enfields. Also my scope, when fitted again seems too 'modern' for this rifle. Can you offer any advice or recommendations on more traditional equipment?

Nicky.
PS great magazine keep up the good work.

Hi
Your enquiry about scopes and bipods for a Lee No.4 rifle has been forwarded to me, a contributor of articles to Target Sports.

I would recommend the following scope: a Simmons Whitetail Classic 1.5-5x20 Nightview Compact Riflescope at about £85.  The reason is that from a distance it looks like a No.32 Sniper scope as fitted to the No.4(T) sniper rifle.  For mounts I would recommend Fulton's or Armalon's one piece mount which does not require any drilling of the receiver and therefore will not ruin the collector value of your rifle.  As soon as you start drilling holes in a collectable rifle such as this you can knock £100 off the price!

Bipod choice is a more difficult question: they were never fitted to a No.4 so no matter what you use it will not look right.  I prefer the Parker-Hale type (was copied from the old Bren gun bipod so at least these have the looks of something from WW2).  The alternative is a Harris but both types will need to have a hole drilled in the wooden forend, so again this will not help regarding collector value.  Personally, I would rather just carry a bean bag to act as a support if required.
