GEORGINA GEIKIE WINS BA FLIGHT

Georgina Geikie, Britain's top lady pistol shooter, has won a free flight to Zurich from British Airways under its 'Great Britons' initiative.

The Great Britons programme was launched to provide support for talented Britons to help them achieve their potential in whichever field they specialised. Georgina was among eight potential winners shortlisted from hundreds of applicants. After the voting she'd racked up enough public votes to secure a free flight to Zurich. The flight will enable her to train properly for her discipline.

As she aspires to compete in the 2012 London Olympics, with no support from the UK government, the flight is a huge help to Georgina. "I want to thank everyone for voting for me," she said. "My way of repaying you all is by my continued efforts to get to London and win a medal!"
