A £10,000 REWARD IN BOLTBY BURGLARY CASE

Created on 23rd September 2009

A total reward of £10,000, half for return of the stolen guns and half for information leading to a conviction, has been offered.
The burglary took place in February this year, at Boltby Farm, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. The victim, a man in his 70s, was tied up and assaulted by a group of masked men who broke in to his house. The thieves then took off with his car, cash and five firearms.
The five guns stolen were:
A Ruger .22 self-loading rifle (serial number 242-46235)
A Remington .222 bolt-action rifle(serial number C6629502)
An RWS .22 Excalibur air rifle with scope (serial number 7833)
A pair of Hogan and Colbourne side-by-side 12-bore shotguns (serial numbers 1049 and 1050)

Det Sgt Darrin Knight of North Yorkshire Police said: "This incident was a particularly vicious and frightening ordeal for the elderly victim. The manner in which he was tied up and left alone overnight caused a great deal of emotional strain."
Mr Knight said it was important the firearms were reunited with their owner, saying: "This is for the victim's own sentimental reasons, especially in relation to the pair of rare Hogan and Colbourne shotguns, which bore engravings of a much-loved spaniel gundog."
If you have any information or which could help locate the firearms, or which could assist the investigation, please contact the Operation Bestrew investigation team at North Yorkshire Police on 08456 060247.
Anonymous information can also be passed on to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555111, quoting the North Yorkshire Police reference number 12090030081.
